This calculator multiplies your room's length and width to find its area, adds your chosen waste percentage to account for cuts and offcuts, then divides that total by how much area a single box of flooring covers, rounding up to a whole number of boxes.
10% is a typical default for straightforward rectangular rooms. Rooms with lots of corners, closets or angled walls, or flooring installed diagonally, generally need a higher allowance since more cutting is involved.
