This calculator supports standard arithmetic (+, −, ×, ÷), exponents (^), square roots, and trigonometric functions (sin, cos, tan), along with logarithms (log for base 10, ln for natural log). Trigonometric functions use radians, not degrees.
You can type a full expression like sqrt(16) + 2^3 and it will be evaluated following standard order of operations, respecting parentheses and function precedence.
For the expression sqrt(16) + 2^3: sqrt(16) evaluates to 4, and 2^3 (2 raised to the power of 3) evaluates to 8. Adding them gives 4 + 8 = 12. If the expression instead used parentheses, like sqrt(16 + 2)^3, the addition inside the parentheses would happen first (16 + 2 = 18), then the square root, then the cube, producing a very different result.
Entering trig function angles in degrees instead of radians, sin(90) here means the sine of 90 radians, not 90 degrees; convert degrees to radians first (degrees × π / 180) if that's what you mean.
Leaving out parentheses around a compound argument, sqrt(16 + 2)^3 and sqrt(16) + 2^3 evaluate very differently, so make sure grouping reflects what you actually intend to calculate.
Forgetting standard order of operations applies, exponents are evaluated before addition and subtraction, so 2 + 3^2 is 11, not 25.
Trigonometric functions use radians. To convert degrees to radians, multiply by pi and divide by 180.
Yes, parentheses work as expected to control the order of operations within your expression.
