This tool reads your text line by line and removes any line with no content, tightening up text that has accumulated extra blank lines from copy-pasting between documents, code editors, or spreadsheets.
A line containing only spaces or a tab character looks empty but technically isn't blank. With 'treat whitespace-only lines as empty' enabled, these lines are removed too, useful when text was copied from a source that leaves invisible trailing whitespace on otherwise blank lines.
Given the text 'line1', a blank line, 'line2', a line with only spaces, and 'line3' (5 lines total), with 'treat whitespace-only as empty' enabled, the result keeps just 'line1', 'line2', 'line3' and reports 2 lines removed, both the genuinely blank line and the spaces-only line are stripped out.
Leaving 'treat whitespace-only as empty' disabled when text has invisible trailing spaces on otherwise blank lines, those lines will look empty visually but won't be removed unless that option is enabled.
Using this tool to fix spacing within lines, it only ever removes entire lines, if the problem is extra spaces inside a line rather than blank lines themselves, use Remove Extra Spaces instead.
