For a rectangle, area is length × width. For a triangle, area is ½ × base × height. For a circle, area is π × radius², using half of the diameter you enter as the radius. All three formulas use the values you enter for 'Length, Base, or Diameter' and 'Width or Height' depending on the shape selected, the second field is ignored for circles.
Square feet is the standard unit for most home improvement projects in the US. Square yards is commonly used when buying carpet (9 square feet = 1 square yard). Square meters is the standard metric unit, useful when working with international suppliers or specifications.
Split the space into simpler rectangles or triangles, calculate each one separately using this tool, and add the results together for the total area.
Multiply the radius by 2 to get the diameter, then enter that value in the 'Length, Base, or Diameter' field.
