Current attendance is Classes Attended ÷ Total Classes Held × 100. Classes needed to reach a target assumes you attend every future class from now on, and solves for how many additional classes (attended and held) bring your percentage up to the target. Classes you can skip assumes you keep attending as before, and finds how many future classes (held but not attended) you can miss while staying at or above the target.
For example, with 40 of 50 classes attended (80%) and a 75% target, you're already above target, so the calculator shows how many classes you can still skip rather than how many more you need.
If you're below your target, 'classes needed' tells you how many consecutive classes you must attend to catch up. If you're already above target, 'classes you can skip' tells you your safety margin before you'd fall below it. Only one of the two will typically be a meaningful non-zero number at a time.
The 'classes needed' figure assumes you attend all future classes without missing any, since that's the fastest way to recover a low attendance percentage. The 'classes you can skip' figure assumes the opposite, that you keep missing future classes while target-holding your percentage.
If you've already missed any classes, 100% attendance can no longer be reached since past classes can't be un-missed, so the calculator shows this as not applicable.
