Days remaining is the gap between today and your exam date. That's converted to weeks remaining, then multiplied by your chosen study days per week to get your total number of study sessions. Total study hours needed is then divided by that session count (for hours per day) and by weeks remaining (for hours per week).
For example, with 20 days remaining, 5 study days a week, and 40 hours of material to cover, that's roughly 14.3 study sessions, about 2.8 hours per session, or 14 hours per week.
A common rough estimate is 1-3 hours of focused study per hour of class content, or per chapter/topic depending on difficulty, adjust up for denser material or down for material you already know well. This calculator just does the scheduling math once you have that hours estimate.
The calculator shows 0 days remaining and can't produce a meaningful daily or weekly study target in that case, double check the exam date you entered.
A common starting point is 1-3 hours of focused review per topic or chapter, adjusted for how well you already know the material and how difficult the exam is expected to be.
