This tool draws your image onto a canvas and re-exports it, canvas rendering only ever carries the visible pixel data, not the original file's metadata segments, so re-encoding this way strips EXIF camera data, GPS location, timestamps, and any other embedded metadata as a natural side effect, no metadata-specific logic needed, which makes this a thorough and reliable removal method.
Photos taken on phones and cameras often embed GPS coordinates, device information, and timestamps in EXIF metadata. Stripping this before sharing a photo publicly (on a website, marketplace listing, or social media) prevents that hidden information, including your exact location, from being unintentionally exposed to anyone who inspects the file.
The output uses a high quality setting for formats that need re-encoding (like JPEG), so any quality difference is minimal. PNG and WebP inputs are re-encoded losslessly where the browser supports it.
